Clay Sculpting 
Miss Andrea Rosario

Grade levels: This technique class is designed for 6th grade and higher. This class is offered in the fall and spring semesters. It is 16 weeks long. Miss Rosario will be teaching students a variety of techniques in polymer clay creations. In this fun class, Miss Andrea teaches basic techniques used by professional crafters to make polymer clay figurines. Learn to choose the best type of polymer clay for your project and how to manipulate it to create the desired shape. Learn how to paint, texturize, add sparkle, and even use unrelated found pieces to your project. Create fun clay flowers, sea creatures, food items, and birds you can transform into jewelry or use to decorate other crafting projects. Depending upon the ages of registered students, a second class within the same semester may be arranged for older students.

Prerequisites: None
Materials fee: $40/per student

 

Needle Arts I
Mrs. Victoria Rose

Needle Arts for ages 12 and up. Weekly classes will introduce students to a variety of techniques to produce original needle art projects. Will require time outside class to complete projects.

1st Quarter – Embroidery & Needlecraft
2nd Quarter – Crochet
3rd Quarter – Knitting
4th Quarter – Beading & Embellishment

 

Needle Arts II

For Middle School and Upper Elementary students ages 11-14. Weekly classes will introduce students to a variety of techniques to produce original works of art. Will require time outside class to complete projects

1st Quarter – Drawing
2nd Quarter – Painting
3rd Quarter – Sewing
4th Quarter – Final Project

 

Survey of Studio Art
Mrs. Amy Browning-Dill

Grade levels: Middle and High School

In this class we will explore a variety of media including charcoal, oil pastel, watercolor, collage, clay, and metal embossing while learning how to incorporate the Principles of Art and Design in both 2- and 3-Dimensional art. We will often look to art styles and techniques throughout history for inspiration. The ultimate goal of the class is to allow the students to dive into their creative potential while providing them with the skills and knowledge of making and critiquing art.

1st Quarter – Drawing Media

2nd Quarter – Painting

3rd Quarter – Clay

4th Quarter – Collage and Final Project of choice

Advanced Studio Art
Mrs. Amy Browning-Dill

This course is for students with prior experience in studio art who would like to hone their drawing, painting, and design skills with the option to submit a body of work for a portfolio exam towards college credit and/or advanced placement. The students will be asked to exhibit their own research, experimentation, inventive thinking and artmaking, critical analysis, and problem solving in their work. They will choose between working in 2-D Design or Drawing with the goal of creating college-level work. In order to enroll in this class, students should schedule an interview with the instructor for a portfolio review of prior work. Students will be expected to work both in and outside of class.
