Tutor for: Latin, Russian, Shurley Grammar

Mrs. Swafford is from the city of Zhytomyr, Ukraine, is a native speaker of Ukrainian and Russian languages, and has lived in the United States since 1997. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Education at  Zhytomyr Teacher Training University, with emphasis in English, German, and Foreign Literature, and studied Latin for two years as part of her required degree coursework. Her teaching experience includes training U.S. Astronauts and space flight operations personnel in Russian language at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and teaching Latin at all grade levels at Providence Classical School in Huntsville, Alabama.

Mrs. Swafford has 11 years of experience homeschooling her two children and joined STARS in 2014, teaching Latin I, Latin III, (and Russian).  She lives in Springfield, Virginia, with her husband David, son Andrew, and daughter Valerie.
